How to rotate a table in Microsoft Word

How to rotate a table in Microsoft Word

Way 1:

You cannot rotate a table in Word straightaway.
That being said, you can rotate a table that has been converted into a  picture. Just remember that once you convert the tabel to something else you can no longer edit the table since it is going to become something else in order to be able to rotate it...
Here is one way to rotate a table visually in a Word document:
1. select your table (you can use the little selector item in the upper left corner of the table
2. copy (ctrl+c)
3. find a new place in your document and click the Paste button on the ribbon - choose Paste Special | choose Microsoft Word Object
4. delete the oroginal table if you like
5. select the newly pasted Word document object and copy (ctrl+c)
6. repeat step #3 above but this time choose a picture format as the paste type like PNG
7. now you have a picture or a document obejct representation of your oroginal table, which you can rotate by grabbing the little green selector at the top of the selected picture and rotate away!!!

Way 2:

It is possible, but with some limitation.
Though the table will be still editable, while editing a shape that has text inside, Word resets the text temporarily to the default orientation.
Here are the steps:
Step 1:
Create a table. Then select all the table contents using the icon on one of the table corners. Copy the selection.
Step 2:
Create an empty textbox outside the table, right click on the textbox and choose “Add text”.
Step 3:
Paste the table you have copied inside the textbox. Note that the size of the textbox will affect how the table will look like. Unless there’s enough space inside.
Step 4:
Rotate the textbox(which will consequently rotate all its content including the table) using ordinary rotation icon(the green circle).
Result:
A rotated table in Word.
In addition, for the textbox, You can set the background color and the shape outline color to whatever color you want to make it transparent so only the table will be visible.
Good luck!
